EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH ALESSIO CANNIZZO

Delving into his artistic journey, influenced by personal history and theater training, Cannizzo reveals how he sculpts with aluminum, utilizing his body as his primary tool.

For the occasion of his participation in Vogue Closet 2024 at Notagallery, we're excited to share our interview with Alessio Cannizzo, an Italian artist residing in Berlin. Delving into his artistic journey, influenced by personal history and theater training, Cannizzo reveals how he sculpts with aluminum, utilizing his body as his primary tool.

Alessio Cannizzo

Alessio Cannizzo constructs three-dimensional sculptures from materials such as sheet metal, aluminium discs and plastics to explore the metaphysical traces of movement. He comes from the field of performance art where movements are choreographed and traced by the eye, but physically lost within space. By applying his performative approach through a direct interaction with materials, he is able to document traces of his movements in the artwork itself.

He studied in Berlin at Tanzfabrik Programm in 2017  and starting from 2021 he is studying sculpture at Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin.
