M. Maria Tatar(Istanbul, 1996) is a Romanian-born artist currently based in Berlin. She began painting at Școala Populară de Artă during her childhood, later studying oil painting at Istanbul Art Academy and earning a BFA in Graphic Design. Her work explores the human form as it undergoes constant transformation, with bodies that appear fractured and rebuilt through her artistic vision. Blending figuration and abstraction, her paintings capture bodies mid-shift, marked by bold distortions and expressive geometry. Tatar has exhibited in solo and group shows including Galerie Benjamin Eck (Munich), Notagallery (Berlin), and Soho House Berlin. At the heart of her practice lies a simple philosophy: Being human is to never fully arrive. We exist in a continuous cycle of breaking and rebuilding ourselves, forever caught in the quiet tension of becoming. Her instinctive visual language reflects this ongoing state of in-betweenness: never quite whole, yet never without meaning.
