Stephan Meißner (Bonn, 1989) is a visual artist based in Berlin since 2009. He discovered his artistic calling during his youth through classical graffiti stylewriting. Influenced by a love for letters and the ongoing decision between following or breaking rules and norms found in typography, he is inspired by unconventional approaches and materials within the world of art. The choice of tapes and other adhesive materials as his main medium creates a symbiotic relationship with his focus on abstraction and the language of form, characterized by straight lines and sharp contrasts. As founder and active member of the Tape That Artist Collective, Meissner has influenced the global tape art movement. In his work, Stephan invites the viewer to challenge conventions and consciously choose whether to break or follow them. This process of questioning shapes the aesthetic of his artworks.
