Portrait of Artist Olivia Berger at Notagallery in Berlin-Kreuzberg

ARTIST

Olivia Berger

Olivia Berger (Mauritius Island, 1990) has been based in Berlin since 2010, where she studied fashion design at BEST-Sabel Designakademie before becoming a self-taught artist. Working primarily in large format oil paintings alongside graphite and ink, she has exhibited across Europe and completed commissioned works for private collections and murals. Her artistic philosophy centers on a trinity of People paired with Colors and Geometry, rooted in her bicultural German and Mauritian identity. "I am not white, nor am I black, I am simultaneously the existence of both and neither," she reflects. This cultural duality drives her to create portraits as windows to the heart and soul within surrealistic environments, where faces convey strength through mystery and transformation. Her work explores the union of contrasting identities, studying how minds alongside borders and emotions converge and transcend divisions.
