Vivian Bénard (Berlin, 1992) is a painter whose practice explores abstraction as a way to navigate mental health, spirituality, and the emotional complexity of human experience. She began working intensively in 2022, turning to painting as both a personal necessity and a response to themes of grief and loss. Using acrylic, oil, and mixed media, Bénard creates layered compositions where vulnerability and resilience take visual form. Her works function not only as aesthetic objects but as spaces for dialogue, confronting stigma and inviting reflection on the realities of the mind. In 2024 she exhibited in Copenhagen during Fashion Week in collaboration with Stella Nova, followed by her self-curated solo exhibition As Above So Below in Hamburg in 2025. Through gestures, textures, and fragments of text, her paintings articulate questions of what it means to be human, how emotions are processed, and how shared experiences can connect us.
