We are delighted to share that this exhibition has been made possible through the generous support of our sponsor, Vianaar. As a valued partner of our gallery, Vianaar is more than a sponsor to us—they share our belief that art thrives when creativity is supported, dialogue is encouraged, and cultural exchange is nurtured. Their commitment to fostering these values makes their collaboration with us both natural and inspiring.

Founded by siblings Naina and Varun Nagpal, Vianaar is based in Goa, a coastal region on India’s western shores known for its tropical beauty and cultural mix. From this base, the company has grown into one of India’s leading design-focused developers, with projects across Goa, the Himalayan foothills of Kasauli, and the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
Vianaar’s Dialogue with Art
Across continents and collections, Vianaar has spent over fifteen years weaving art into the spaces it builds, while also supporting local art fairs and national platforms for modern and contemporary art from South Asia. What began as a passion for collecting has evolved into a philosophy: architecture should hold not just life, but culture. Their first artist residency marks the latest step in this journey.
Design, Led by Art
“Design is most powerful when it feels effortless.”
For Vianaar, art and architecture are inseparable. Founder Varun Nagpal has been collecting art for more than fifteen years, and this perspective naturally shapes the company’s design ethos. Each home is imagined as a canvas where light, material, and proportion create a sense of presence.
The architectural language draws on Indo-Portuguese heritage, tropical modernity, and the rhythm of slow living. Spaces open into native gardens, glow with natural light, and embody three quiet commitments: to preserve water, foster green cover, and continually rethink waste. The result is architecture that feels both grounded and contemporary, leaving a lasting calm.
In Residence at Vianaar
“Living spaces should elicit genuine emotional connections. That’s what art achieves, and it’s what we strive for in our architecture.” – Varun Nagpal
This summer, Vianaar hosted its first artist residency with Notagallery’s founder, Ivan Gette. The collaboration began with a chance meeting in Berlin, where Nagpal encountered Gette’s work and recognised an approach that treated art as a tool for connection, trust, and reimagining shared futures. Out of this encounter grew a residency that carried their vision across borders.
The invitation was open and unstructured: to come to Goa, India, and live in one of Vianaar’s villas as artist-in-residence. Immersed in the architecture and layered textures of Goa, Gette allowed the environment to shape his process.
The outcome is a body of work that translates his impressions of India into abstraction—colours layered like memories, emotions rendered in shifting forms. Today, these paintings remain in Vianaar homes, not only as artworks but as traces of an encounter between artist and space, Berlin and Goa, architecture and painting.
A Shared Vision with Notagallery
“What unites Vianaar and Notagallery is a belief that architecture is never static - it can host creation, connection, and cultural exchange.”
The residency made this alignment tangible. Vianaar invites artists to inhabit its homes in Goa as working studios, while Notagallery activates historic buildings in Berlin as cultural embassies. Though different in form, both approaches push architecture beyond utility, allowing it to carry dialogue, memory, and meaning.
Patrons of Culture
“Art isn’t just what hangs on the wall. It’s the atmosphere that lingers in the room.”
Vianaar’s engagement with art extends beyond collecting. The company acts as a patron, creating conditions for creativity to unfold. Goa—with its blend of Indian and Portuguese history, lush landscapes, and slower rhythm of life—becomes both inspiration and collaborator in this process.
Looking Ahead
“Sometimes, all it takes is a spark, a moment to start something beautiful.”
The residency with Ivan Gette was only the beginning. Vianaar plans to continue inviting artists to experience India through its homes, using architecture as a frame for new work and reflection. These homes will evolve as living archives of creativity, carrying art, memory, and imagination within their walls.
For Notagallery, featuring Vianaar is a way to highlight a kindred vision: a company that regards design as conversation and homes as places where culture can take root. It is a story that begins in India but resonates far beyond its borders.

Vianaar’s artist residency program is now open to expressions of interest. For Berlin’s creative community, the residency offers a bridge to India—a continuation of the Art Embassy’s spirit, where art becomes a shared language between cultures.
