In every city, there are places where history hovers in the air, where ideologies clashed, where people dreamed for a better future. In Berlin, one such place is Checkpoint Charlie. Once a place of division, it has now become a silent border, freely crossed by thousands of people every day. It is a passage not between East and West, but between imagination and reality, between the individual and the collective, between silence and voice.
But now, here NOTAGALLERY brings the Art Embassy project.
In a world marked by exile, migration, political tensions and cultural silences, we ask ourselves: what if artists were our diplomats? What if embassies were not at the service of nations, but of ideas? What if borders were not lines to be defended, but spaces to be reimagined?
From 12th September 2025 to 20th January 2026, NOTAGALLERY will open its doors at Friedrichstraße 210 to host a new kind of embassy, in which artists, not politicians, act as envoys. An embassy without a flag. Without fixed identity. A temporary cultural territory built on the belief that art can challenge systems of power, create new narratives and offer refuge.
In this charged space, Art Embassy will present a curated constellation of works by national and international artists. Together, they will occupy the gallery as if it were a diplomatic mission, which instead of defending, provokes, resists and reveals.
It will be political.
It will be poetic.
It will be urgent.
