The Red Wire

This series of four self-portraits and one portrait explores the multiple dimensions of female identity, addressing both imposed expectations and moments of reflection and resistance to the norm. Through four images that navigate between the intimate and the socially constructive, the artist invites us to look at the complexities of what it means to be a woman, the tension between idealized beauty and personal authenticity. 

“The Red Wire” moves away from the self-portrait to focus on the figure of another woman,
as it’s a portrait of her friend Jaqui Dresen. Trapped in the metaphor of physical and psychological bondage represented by the red wire, underlining the sense of restriction and alienation, alluding to the invisible forces that bind women to roles and expectations imposed on them.
