The Giving Thread

The Giving Thread by SuperFly 1.3% is an installation that explores the tension between surrender and freedom through the language of rope. Drawing on macramé techniques and suspension practices, the work uses hemp rope, antler, leather, and vivid red fabric to create a sculptural environment where binding becomes an act of connection rather than restraint.
The red fabric, echoing a mural in the exhibition space, acts as a symbolic pulse for blood, breath, and spirit woven through material form. Rope, one of humanity’s oldest technologies, is reimagined here as both boundary and threshold, a structure that invites reflection on vulnerability, trust, and release.
Without frame or signature, the work resists conventional containment, instead offering itself as an open, living architecture. In dialogue with the exhibition’s context, The Giving Thread suggests that control, once surrendered, can transform into calm, intimacy, and transcendence.
