This analogue portrait captures Youssef, a drag performer and political activist from Egypt, mid-scream, a visceral moment of unfiltered emotion. The title comes from a phrase once said to me, which ironically i connected to the misunderstood depth of the art of drag. The vibrant makeup and unconventional colours become both armour and provocation, a defiant stand against societal expectations while exposing the fragility beneath. His expression holds the tension between the urge to be seen and the fear of judgement, echoing my own fascination with human contradiction. The scream is at once a call for recognition, love, and connection, and a release of the pain such vulnerability can carry. As with all of Analogepeople, it is a mirror, of rebellion, longing, and raw presence. It holds space for authenticity while challenging the gaze of the viewer.
