Dr. Rebekka Revel
Rebekka is a multi-disciplinary fine artist who has been influenced by a unique combination of formal artistic education and in-depth study of Buddhism. She began her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Canada in 2005 and continued her studies in Hamburg and Berlin, where she earned a PhD in 2021 in art, Buddhism, and anthropology. Drawing inspiration from Buddhist philosophy, Rebekka’s art explores themes of impermanence, suffering, and identity through both meditative art practices including dot work and highly detailed artworks, as well as through large calligraphic inspired ink-paintings. To emphasize the concept of impermanence and attachment, many of her artworks are cut up into pieces upon completion. Occasionally, individual pieces of a larger artwork are either sold or gifted, thereby connecting all those who possess a part of the original piece.
